Its USB4 Gen3x2 interface supports bandwidth up to 40Gbps, with actual performance dependent on the host system and installed SSD. The adapter also supports Thunderbolt 3 and 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2, USB 3.2 Gen 2, USB 3.2 Gen 1, and USB 2.0 connections, making it suitable for professional workstations, modern laptops, Macs, field systems, and test environments.

Tool-Less Installation and Broad Drive Compatibility

Designed for efficient drive access, the MB307U-1VB uses a tool-less slot that accepts bare U.2 and U.3 SSDs with an SFF-8639 connector. It can also accommodate compatible third-party drive trays from Dell, HP, Supermicro, and other server manufacturers, allowing users to access enterprise SSDs without removing them from their carriers. This makes the adapter useful for drive cloning, diagnostics, data recovery, system testing, content production, and frequent SSD swaps. The connector assembly is rated for more than 10,000 insertion and removal cycles for dependable long-term use.

Stable Cooling and Independent Power Delivery

An integrated, center-mounted aluminum heat plate helps dissipate heat from the high-speed controller during sustained transfers. The included 12V/2.5A, 30W external power adapter supplies dedicated power for demanding U.2 and U.3 NVMe SSDs, reducing reliance on USB bus power and helping maintain stable operation under intensive workloads. A power switch and blue activity LED provide convenient control and drive-status visibility.

Portable Workflow Solution for Windows and macOS

Combining lightweight ABS construction with aluminum components, the black ICY DOCK MB307U-1VB is designed for mobile production, IT service, and professional storage workflows.
