A2K-TDC-0M5 NMEA2000 Micro Cable Assembly - 0.5M
Available in various lengths, the cable assemblies can be used as either a drop cable from a NMEA 2000 backbone or to extend the length of the backbone cable.
Actisense Lite cable assemblies allow quick installation and come with quality reassurance as only the Actisense UL-certified cable is used.
NMEA 2000 cable includes five wires within a single waterproof cable: power and ground wires, two signal (data) wires, and a drain wire. The drain wire connects to the cable shield, which protects the signal, power, and ground wires from external Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) and helps reduce RFI emission from the cable.
NMEA 2000 Lite cable can be used to create a backbone up to 100 meters in length. If the backbone length required exceeds 100 meters, the center of the bus can be extended with an NMEA 2000 mini cable to keep the outer Lite sections to the 100-meter maximum.
The maximum length of a drop cable (distance from the backbone) is 6 meters. It is important to limit each drop length to the minimum required, as the total of all drop lengths must not exceed 72 meters.
The Actisense range of NMEA 2000 connectors and cables has been designed using our specialist interconnect and NMEA knowledge.
Technical Specifications:
The Actisense A2K-TDC-0M5 NMEA 2000 Micro Cable Assembly provides a reliable and efficient connection solution for marine electronic systems. Designed for flexibility, this 0.5-meter cable can be used as a drop cable from a NMEA 2000 backbone or to extend the length of existing backbone cables, offering versatility for various installation requirements. Manufactured with UL-certified materials, the assembly ensures quality and safety, facilitating quick and straightforward installation in demanding marine environments.
Constructed with five internal wires—power, ground, two data signals, and a drain wire—this waterproof cable effectively shields signals from external Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). The drain wire connects to the cable shield, reducing RFI emissions and protecting signal integrity, which is crucial for maintaining accurate data transmission aboard vessels. The cable's robust construction supports backbone configurations up to 100 meters, with additional extension options using mini cables for longer runs. Drop cables are limited to a maximum length of 6 meters, and overall system lengths should be managed to prevent exceeding the 72-meter total drop distance.
Designed with marine-grade components, the connector features a brass, gold-plated male contact, a phosphor bronze, gold-plated female contact, and a black PBT contact carrier. The IP67-rated housing ensures protection against water and dust ingress when mated, making it suitable for outdoor and wet environments. The cable jacket is made of black PVC, with a diameter of approximately 0.27 inches, providing durability and flexibility for marine installations. With a weight of around 2.4 ounces, the cable is lightweight and easy to handle, yet resilient enough to withstand operating temperatures from -20°C to +70°C (-4°F to +158°F).
Perfect for extending or creating NMEA 2000 networks on boats and marine vessels, this assembly guarantees high-quality data transfer essential for navigation, engine monitoring, and other critical systems.
