Active components integrated into the HDMI connectors convert electrical signals to optical signals and draw power directly from the HDMI port, eliminating the need for an external power supply. The thin, lightweight construction is easier to install than many traditional copper alternatives, while the plenum-rated, low-smoke, fire-retardant jacket supports use in air-handling spaces. The Comprehensive HD18G-50PROPAF uses a unidirectional design. Connect the end labeled “Source” to the HDMI signal source and the end labeled “Display” to the receiving device. As with other fiber optic cables, handle it carefully during installation and avoid excessive pulling force or sharp bends that could damage the internal fiber. Compatibility can vary with certain laptops, computers, and source devices depending on system conditions; consult technical support if performance or compatibility issues occur.
