GPS160 TriNav Sensor with USB Output
The GPS160, a high performance positioning sensor using GPS, Galileo and Glonass satellite systems for exceptional positioning accuracies and redundancies.
TriNav technology allows all three systems to be simultaneously utilized for navigation. The device can also be field programmed for a variety of modes such as single GNSS operation (eg Galileo only) as well as output configurations such as update rate, NMEA sentence structure etc
The GPS160 is available with a NMEA 0183 output (4800, 38400 and 115200 baud programmable) and a USB variant for PC, MAC and Linux. For NMEA 2000 systems, a bundle is available with iKonvert allowing easy and flexible NMEA 2000 installation without the need for cumbersome drop cables.
The GPS160 also support an external MOB switch or device. When activated, it creates a synthesized AIS SART MOB message on the NMEA output which can be interfaced with a local plotter for MOB identification.
The GPS160 supports GPS, Glonass and Galileo positioning. Our TriNav technology is used to combine signals from all three systems to compute the best possible fix accuracy and reliability.
Galileo is the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) that has been developed over the past two decades. It joins the GPS and GLONASS systems and offers mariners a 3rd reliable positioning source. It is planned to be fully operational in 2020.
Features:
The Digital Yacht GPS160 TriNav Sensor with USB Output is a high-performance GNSS receiver designed for advanced marine navigation applications. Utilizing GPS, Galileo, and Glonass satellite systems, this device offers exceptional positioning accuracy and system redundancy, ensuring reliable data even in challenging environments. The TriNav technology simultaneously combines signals from all three systems, providing typically sub-1 meter accuracy, which is critical for precision navigation and safety at sea. Its versatility allows configuration as a dedicated GPS, Glonass, or Galileo-only device, catering to various operational needs. The GPS160 features sophisticated anti-spoofing algorithms that enhance positioning robustness and interference rejection, making it suitable for professional use, including ECDIS systems.
The device supports multiple output formats, including NMEA 0183 and USB, with configurable baud rates (4800, 38400, and 115200). The USB variant offers seamless connectivity with PC, Mac, and Linux systems, streamlining integration into existing navigation setups. For NMEA 2000 networks, the optional iKonvert interface simplifies installation without cumbersome drop cables, while the device’s wireless variant adds further flexibility. The GPS160 also provides an external MOB switch input, which, when activated, transmits a synthesized AIS MOB message to aid in emergency rescue operations, integrating easily with plotters for MOB identification.
Designed for ease of installation, the GPS160 supports industry-standard mounting options, including puck and third-party threaded mounts. It features a user-friendly internal DIP switch system for selecting output formats, update rates (up to 18Hz), and baud rates, allowing quick field adjustments. At a low power consumption of less than 20mA at 12V DC, it is efficient for extended operations. Overall, the Digital Yacht GPS160 TriNav Sensor with USB output is an essential component for professional mariners requiring accurate, reliable, and flexible GNSS positioning solutions.
