The ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB508SP-B is a high-density internal drive enclosure designed to install eight 2.5-inch SAS or SATA hard drives and solid-state drives into two 5.25-inch optical drive bays. Supporting drives from 5mm to 15mm thick, this full-metal backplane cage accommodates enterprise-grade storage, including high-capacity and 15,000 RPM SAS drives used for archival storage, backups, servers, workstations, and data-center systems.

Reliable Enterprise Storage and Hot-Swap Access

Two Mini-SAS HD SFF-8643 connectors provide connectivity for all eight drive bays while reducing cable clutter compared with individual SATA connections. Mini-SAS HD cabling also supports longer cable runs and helps maintain signal integrity for dependable data transfers. Each bay features a removable EZ Slide Mini tray with hot-swap capability, allowing compatible drives to be installed or replaced without shutting down the system. The internal SAS/SATA connectors are rated for up to 10,000 insertion and removal cycles, supporting frequent maintenance requirements.

Rugged Construction and Flexible Cooling

The ToughArmor MB508SP-B uses a heavy-duty full-metal chassis and metal trays designed for demanding industrial, military, medical, and other applications requiring rugged construction and flammability compliance. A replaceable 80mm cooling fan provides high, low, and off settings, while ventilation openings help move heat away from installed drives. LED activity indicators provide at-a-glance drive status, and optional ID labels help organize storage arrays and RAID configurations.

The EZ Slide Mini trays support a broad range of 2.5-inch SATA and SAS HDDs and SSDs and are compatible with select other ICY DOCK ToughArmor models, including the MB991 and MB994 series. An eagle-hook locking mechanism helps prevent accidental tray removal. The enclosure is powered through two SATA 15-pin power connections and includes mounting screws, an ID plug, and a user manual. The ICY DOCK MB508SP-B is backed by a limited three-year warranty.
