The ICY DOCK ToughArmor MB840M2P-B transforms a compatible PCIe expansion slot into a removable bay for one M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. Its removable tray lets you install, remove, and exchange an M.2 drive without opening the computer case, making drive maintenance and testing faster and more convenient. The adapter uses a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface and can also be installed in compatible PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 x4, x8, and x16 slots.

Tool-Less M.2 SSD Installation
The patent-pending adjustable M.2 locker secures supported SSDs without the tiny screws typically required for motherboard installation. It accommodates M.2 2230, 2242, 2260, 2280, and 22110 drive formats. The included thermal pad transfers heat from the SSD to the aluminum tray, helping promote efficient cooling during demanding workloads such as image processing, machine learning, cloud computing, and data mining.

Secure, Flexible, and Efficient Design
The ruggedized ToughArmor construction incorporates a metal tray and mounting bracket, anti-vibration technology, and an Eagle-hook locking system to help protect the drive during regular use. EMI grounding helps safeguard the SSD during repeated swaps, while the included full-height and half-height bracket options support standard desktop and low-profile systems. The low-profile design also allows multiple units to be installed side by side in modular configurations.

Power and Activity Monitoring
The PCIe interface carries both power and data, reducing cable clutter inside the computer. An activity LED on the removable tray indicates drive power and activity, and Active Power Technology automatically powers down the device when no SSD is installed. An optional 2-pin HDD activity signal output can connect to a compatible case or LED panel for remote activity monitoring.
