Swivel Base Rod Holder

RH577XL

Vertical 0 Extra Long Tube

Without a doubt, our swivel base rod holder is the Ultimate Rod Holder for the serious sportsman. Primarily designed to be used with bent butt tackle, the rod holders unique swivel base allows the rod butt to rotate in the rod holder when side pressure is applied to the tip of the rod. This is an indispensable tool, especially important in Giant Blue Fin Tuna fishing, where reel drags in the neighborhood of 60 pounds are frequently used and can result in tremendous forces being applied to the rod holder pin.

Not only does this make sheared rod holder pins a thing of the past but, more importantly, it allows the tip of the rod to follow the fish. This reduces the possibility of line fraying and enhanced drag as the line streams sideways out of the roller tip instead of over the roller. The rod is also more easily removed from the holder since it is not locked on a rigid pin. The swivel base holder functions as a standard rod holder when used with straight butt rods. Straight butt rods can be manually rotated so that the line remains on the tips roller. The amount of torque required to rotate the swivel is set by adjusting the pressure on two nylon drag washers with a 1/2 inch stainless steel lock nut at the bottom of the rod holder.

The Lee's Tackle RH577XL stainless steel swivel base rod holder is designed for serious anglers who demand durability and versatility. Featuring an extra-long tube measuring approximately 14.5 inches in length with a 2.25-inch outer diameter, this rod holder is ideal for handling large fishing reels and heavy-duty tackle. Its robust construction ensures reliable performance during extended fishing trips and heavy strikes, making it an essential component for offshore and big game fishing.

The unique swivel base allows the rod butt to rotate smoothly when side pressure is applied to the tip, which is especially advantageous when targeting large species like bluefin tuna. This rotation capability helps prevent sheared pins and reduces stress on the rod holder, providing a safer and more efficient fishing experience. The swivel mechanism also enables the tip of the rod to follow the fish, minimizing line fraying and maintaining consistent line tension, which is crucial for successful catches.

Designed to be used with bent butt tackle, the rod holder can also function as a standard straight-butt holder by manually rotating the rod. The tension of the swivel is adjustable via two nylon drag washers, secured with a stainless steel lock nut, allowing anglers to customize resistance based on their fishing conditions. Its flush mount design ensures a secure and streamlined installation on various boat surfaces, providing a clean and professional look while ensuring stability during intense battles with large fish. Whether you're a professional or a dedicated hobbyist, this rod holder's high-quality materials and thoughtful design make it a valuable addition to any fishing setup.
