The Motorshop Knucklehead Engine Case Set is designed as a replacement for the original cases used on 1941–1947 Harley-Davidson FL models. The case set is supplied without serial numbers, and a Bill of Sale will be issued for the blank cases. The rear motor mount halves are stamped with the numeral “7” to denote 74 cubic inches; builders may also stamp these numbers in.
Oil from the top end returns through the pushrod tubes rather than through the cylinder base. The case accepts loose roller bearings on the sprocket and pinion shaft sides and includes pinion and sprocket shaft races. When mounting the oil pump body, use two gaskets for proper clearance.
Before final assembly, confirm the main bearing fitment clearance using the supplied technical guidance. Multiply the standard bearing measurement by two, then add that result to the left-side sprocket shaft measurement. For example, a .250-inch standard bearing measurement multiplied by two equals .500 inch; adding a 1.000-inch left-side sprocket shaft measurement produces 1.500 inches, indicating 1.501-inch fitment with .001-inch clearance. This set is sold as a complete case set and is manufactured in Taiwan.
