The enclosure features a QXP PCIe card that connects via a high-speed SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) cable, supporting four SATA 6Gb/s channels per cable for a combined transfer speed of up to 24Gb/s, significantly outperforming traditional eSATA and USB connections. This setup ensures smooth data transfer and quick backup processes, making it suitable for demanding storage environments.

The TL-D400S includes lockable hard drive trays that prevent accidental removal, providing added security for your drives. Its design supports multi-lane SATA 6Gb/s transfer, where each SATA lane connects directly to a separate drive, optimizing performance with dedicated high-speed channels. This hardware is complemented by software tools that allow for flexible management; you can configure RAID, monitor drive health, and manage snapshots when connected to a QNAP NAS running QTS or QuTS hero. When connected to a PC or server, the QNAP JBOD Manager utility provides real-time status updates, health monitoring, fan speed checks, and firmware updates, ensuring your storage is always optimized and protected.

The enclosure supports non-RAID mode for fault tolerance and data reliability, allowing users to expand storage capabilities of tower form-factor systems with external drives. The QXP PCIe card facilitates flexible connectivity for QNAP NAS, Windows®, or Ubuntu® systems, further enhancing storage options.
