Sikaflex-292 - White - 10oz Tube with Nozzle

Sikaflex-292 is a non-sag 1-component polyurethane adhesive of thixotropic, paste-like consistency that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture. It exhibits excellent adhesive properties and good mechanical strength.

Features:

  • Good gap-filling properties
  • Can be painted
  • Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates
  • Wheelmark approved
  • Solvent-free and very low VOC

Areas of Application:

Sikaflex-292 is suitable for structural joints in marine constructions which will be subjected to high dynamic stresses. It is suitable to bond metals, particularly aluminum (including anodized finishes), metal primers and paint coatings (2-component systems),
ceramic materials, plastics such as GRP (unsaturated polyester resin), ABS, etc. Seek the manufacturers advice and perform tests on original substrates before using Sikaflex-292 on materials prone to stress cracking. This product is suitable for experienced professional users only. Tests with actual substrates and conditions have to be performed ensuring adhesion and material compatibility.

Surface Preparation:

Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. Surface treatment dependson the specific nature of the substrates and is crucial for a long-lasting bond. Suggestions for surface preparation may be found on the current edition of the appropriate Sika Pre-treatment Chart.

Consider that these suggestions are based on experience and have in any case to be
verified by tests on original substrates.

Application:

Sikaflex-292 can be processed between 10 C and 40 C (climate and product) but
changes in reactivity and application properties have to be considered. The optimum temperature for substrate and sealant is between 15 C and 25 C. Consider that the viscosity will increase at low temperatures. For easy application, condition the adhesive at ambient temperature prior to use.

Tooling Finishing

Tooling and finishing must be carried out within the skin time of the sealant. It is recommended to use Sika Tooling Agent N. Other finishing agents must be tested for suitability and compatibility prior to the use.

Removal

Uncured Sikaflex-292 can be removed from tools and equipment with Sika Remover-208 or another suitable solvent. Once cured, the material can only be removed mechanically. Hands and exposed skin have to be washed immediately using Sika Cleaner-350H cleaning towels or a suitable industrial hand cleaner and water. Do not use solvents on the skin.

Note: The domestically produced Sikaflex-292 is not IMO certified

The Sika Sikaflex-292 is a versatile, high-performance polyurethane adhesive designed for demanding marine and structural applications. This 10-ounce tube features a nozzled applicator for precise and efficient application. Its non-sag, paste-like consistency ensures excellent gap-filling capabilities, making it ideal for bonding irregular surfaces and substrates that require a strong, durable seal.
Designed to cure upon exposure to atmospheric moisture, Sikaflex-292 offers excellent adhesion to a wide array of materials including metals such as aluminum (including anodized finishes), ceramics, plastics like GRP and ABS, and painted surfaces. Its solvent-free, low VOC formula makes it environmentally friendly and suitable for use in environmentally sensitive areas. The product is Wheelmark approved, confirming its compliance with marine industry standards for quality and safety.
Proper surface preparation is essential for optimal adhesion. Surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, and dust. Depending on the substrate, appropriate surface treatment is recommended to ensure long-lasting bonds. The product can be processed at temperatures between 10°C and 40°C, with ideal conditions between 15°C and 25°C. For best results, condition the adhesive at ambient temperature before application, and execute tooling and finishing within the skin time using Sika Tooling Agent N or compatible finishing products. When cured, Sikaflex-292 can only be removed mechanically, but uncured material can be cleaned from tools with Sika Remover-208 or similar solvents.
Suitable for experienced professionals, Sikaflex-292 is primarily used in marine construction for structural joints subjected to high dynamic stresses. It requires careful substrate preparation and testing on original materials to verify compatibility and adhesion. Please note that this product is not IMO certified and should be used in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines for optimal performance and safety.

Features:

  • Good gap-filling properties for irregular surfaces
  • Can be painted for a seamless finish
  • Bonds well to a wide variety of substrates including metals, ceramics, and plastics
  • Wheelmark approved, meeting marine industry standards
  • Solvent-free and very low VOC for environmentally conscious applications
