Stainless Steel Constant Torque Clamp 5/8 Band, Hose I.D. - 4-1/8 to 4-1/2, Hose O.D. - 4.75 to 5.625
Virtually all rubber hose compresses (cold flow) after installation of clamping device, resulting in an almost immediate torque loss that can exceed 80% of installation torque. Similarly, virtually all metal connections expand as a system heats up, and then contracts as the system cools. Conventional worm gear, T-bolt, and other clamps are passive, in that expansion or contraction of components cannot be compensated for with out re-tightening or loosening the clamps. This clamping system is an active clamping mechanism, which monitors and then compensates for the changes by actually changing diameter through a unique worm gear Belleville assembly.

Trident Marine 730-4120 Stainless Steel Constant Torque Clamp is designed to provide reliable, consistent sealing for marine, automotive, industrial, and other demanding hose applications. Its 5/8-inch-wide stainless steel band accommodates the specified hose size range while delivering dependable clamping force around the connection. The clamp is well suited for installations where temperature changes, vibration, and long-term hose compression can reduce the effectiveness of conventional clamping systems.
Most rubber hose materials experience cold flow after installation, which can create torque loss and reduce sealing pressure. Metal connections can also expand as a system heats and contract as it cools. Unlike conventional worm gear, T-bolt, and other passive clamps, this active constant torque design helps compensate for these changes. Its unique worm gear and Belleville spring assembly monitors changes in the connection and adjusts the clamp diameter to help maintain more consistent pressure without requiring repeated manual tightening or loosening.
The clamp uses a 304 stainless steel band and housing for corrosion resistance and durable service in marine and other moisture-prone environments. The Belleville spring washers and screw are manufactured from 401 stainless steel, providing a robust clamping assembly for demanding installations. Recommended maximum torque varies by clamp size, ranging from 30 to 70 inch-pounds for smaller sizes and from 50 to 120 inch-pounds for larger sizes. Always follow the equipment manufacturer's installation requirements and use the appropriate torque for the application.
Trident Marine part number 730-4120 is a practical choice when maintaining consistent hose sealing pressure is important. The constant torque mechanism helps reduce the need for maintenance caused by thermal cycling and hose material compression, supporting dependable performance in marine systems, engine compartments, plumbing connections, and other equipment using flexible hose.
