V-Twin Factory Sample Electric Start Oil Tank 40-2025

Our chrome wrap-around 4-speed oil tank is for electric start models and has a four quart capacity. It features a built in battery box.

The V-Twin Factory Sample Electric Start Oil Tank, part number 40-2025, is designed for motorcycle applications using a 12-volt FXE-style battery with braided or rubber oil lines. It is compatible with stock rigid and swingarm frames, making it a practical choice for custom builds, replacement installations, and restoration projects. All tank openings use 1/8 inch-27 NPT threading, while the fitting threads measure 9/16 inch-24. The battery box is intended for a 12-volt battery and is suitable for use with the suggested V-Twin #53-0518 battery.
For rigid frame installations, the rear of the oil tank must be secured to the fender. Swingarm frame installations require a mounting bracket, and 1958-1984 FLH swingarm frames must use the V-Twin #31-0191 zinc swingarm frame oil tank mount bracket. The suggested #37-9242 drain plug may be used to support service and maintenance requirements. Confirm frame, battery, line, and mounting compatibility before installation, and inspect all threaded and bearing holes for excess plating prior to assembly.
This factory sample cover is a new pre-production component and may have cosmetic imperfections in the finished surface. Parts can show marks from installation testing or fitment evaluation; however, they will not have physical defects such as cracks or holes. Because this is a sample part, the finish may not match the appearance of a standard production component. Professional installation is recommended to ensure proper tank support, secure mounting, and correct line routing. The V-Twin 40-2025 oil tank is supplied as an individual component and is manufactured in Taiwan.
