The V-Twin Factory Sample Rigid Rear Fender is a fully assembled replacement body component designed for select 1947 and 1948 Harley-Davidson EL, FL, and UL models. The fender is assembled and riveted with a hinge, providing a useful starting point for restoration projects and custom fitting. It is supplied as a factory sample, so the finished surface may include cosmetic imperfections, installation marks, or evidence of production test fitting. These characteristics do not indicate structural defects such as cracks or holes.
Before applying primer or paint, carefully pre-fit the fender to the motorcycle and verify the alignment of the fender tail, hinge, and mounting bracket. The hinge and pin area, along with the rear portion, may require hand fitting, adjustment, or light modification to achieve proper alignment with the surrounding components. The fender tail is not drilled or cut for tail lamp installation, allowing the installer to position the lamp according to the requirements of the specific build. Inspect threaded and bearing holes for excess plating before installation, and complete all fitting work before finishing the part.
This rear fender is intended for restorers who need a solid replacement or project component for compatible Harley-Davidson applications. An updated rear hinge is available for replacement of the existing hinge, and the V-Twin 50-1243 Replica Rigid Rear Fender Hinge is required when replacing the hinge and must be riveted into position.
