Galvonic Isolator VDI-32A 32A Max Waterproof (Potted)
The galvanic isolator prevents electrolytic corrosion. It blocks low voltage DC currents that enter your boat via the shore power earth wire. These currents can cause corrosion to the boats underwater metals, like the hull, propeller, shaft and so on.
The galvanic isolator consists internally of two diodes which are connected in anti-parallel fashion. When they are connected in this way, the diodes allow current in both directions but only above a certain threshold voltage. The voltage at which diodes conduct is about 1.4 Vdc.
The isolator is installed directly behind your boats 120V - 230V connection. The forward voltage from the galvanic isolator is higher than the potential difference between metals. As a result, this voltage will not allow conduction and as such, the galvanic isolator will prevent any electrolytic current. However, if there is a (higher) error voltage in the AC circuit, the diodes will allow current through and the residual-current device will break the circuit.
Terminal posts are 6mm (1.4)

Please contact your dealer for any returns, repairs or support issues related to this product. The Victron Energy Galvanic Isolator VDI-32A is designed to protect your boat from electrolytic corrosion caused by stray DC currents entering through shore power connections. This waterproof, potted isolator efficiently blocks low voltage DC currents that can damage underwater metals such as hulls, propellers, and shafts, ensuring the longevity of your vessel. Its robust construction and waterproof design make it suitable for marine environments, providing reliable protection even in harsh conditions. The isolator contains two internal diodes connected in an anti-parallel configuration, allowing current flow in both directions but only above a threshold voltage of approximately 1.4 volts DC, effectively preventing corrosion-inducing currents from entering your boat’s systems. Installed immediately behind your boat’s 120V or 230V power connection, the Victron VDI-32A ensures that the potential difference does not allow conduction, thus safeguarding your underwater metals. In the event of an abnormal voltage in the AC circuit, the diodes permit current to flow, which triggers your residual-current device to disconnect the power, providing an additional layer of safety. The terminal posts are designed for easy connection with 6mm (1.4 inches) posts, facilitating straightforward installation. Please note, this product is not ABYC A-28 approved. For support, repairs, or returns, contact your dealer. For more detailed information, refer to the owner’s manual available online at this link. The Victron Energy Galvanic Isolator VDI-32A is an essential component to maintain the integrity of your marine electrical system while protecting your vessel from costly corrosion damage.
