The tunnel at the bottom bracket measures approximately 2-1/2 inches, with the top of the tunnel just before it widens measuring about 2-3/4 inches and at the top bracket approximately 3-3/8 inches, ensuring a precise fit with the appropriate seat. Use an XLS or shorter seat for models from 1982 and newer, and always test fit before painting to prevent damage. Welding seams may require filler to meet individual aesthetic preferences, but do not grind or sand the seams to avoid leaks. To maintain optimal performance and prevent corrosion, we recommend using a Kreem gas tank combo kit for cleaning, conditioning, and sealing. Ensure the petcock opening is accessible and that the petcock can be easily installed; mask or plug the fitting during painting for ease of installation.
